Donation Experience Manager



The Donation Experience Manager purpose is to influence and drive improved performance and the generation on-site donations (OSD) across North America. They are responsible for assessing operations standards, building OSD awareness, improving the flow of merchandise at the Community Donation Center (CDC) and promoting brand awareness in challenged stores and markets.

Essential Job Functions:

Purposeful Market Visits -

  • Utilizes key metric analysis to identify market and store opportunities for focused visits.
  • Observes the donor experience and CDC environment during every store visit.
  • Provides regular observation of, interaction with, and coaching of CDC Ambassadors and Community Donations Managers consistent with their job description.
  • Provides clear and consistent direction during and following each store visit.
  • Provides timely, honest feedback to District Managers and Store Managers on areas of opportunities and required follow-up.
  • Observes and shares best practices across the portfolio of stores.
  • Completes pre and post visit DVR reviews to create closed loop follow-up processes.


Community Donation Center Standards -

  • Validates CDC is organized, clean, safe and welcoming per the CDC Standards, inclusive of the flow of merchandise from the CDC to Production.
  • Evaluates and recommends changes to improve the flow of donor cars through the CDC.
  • Assesses speed of service and adherence to established standards.
  • Ensures CDC Ambassadors are demonstrating behaviors consistently and following Dress Code Standards.
  • Reviews CDC Ambassadors schedules. Partners with store management on proper scheduling to ensure coverage is aligned with expected donations volume, donor traffic and FunDrives


Donation Flow -

  • Observes, evaluates and implements change necessary to ensure an intuitive flow of donors through the CDC, including but not limited to paint, cones, signs.
  • Evaluates the means of conveyance at the point of donation and from CDC to production.
  • Ensures donation flow, storage and staging are maintained at all times.


Brand Awareness -

  • Encourages and demonstrates a culture of genuine appreciation for donors and donations at the CDC by ensuring Ambassadors are providing fast, friendly, respectful service, consistently and positively representing the store’s nonprofit partner, and demonstrating the company’s brand and values.
  • Evaluates and makes recommendations to improve awareness of the CDC.
  • Educates on company promotions and other permitted grassroots efforts inside and outside the store that create community awareness of the CDC, the company brand, and the benefits of donating to Savers.
  • Educates all team members in the store on Savers’ brand, empowering them to share stories about the business model, recycling message and our non-profit partners with donors, shoppers and the and the community.


Loss Prevention and Safety -

  • Ensures donations are accurately weighed by classification and accounted for.
  • Follows loss prevention procedures, including but not limited to reporting internal or external theft to a management team member.
  • Wears required personal protective equipment when applicable.



Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • High school diploma: Post-Secondary degree/diploma preferred
  • Experience managing people preferred
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Mathematical skills
  • Ability to communicate well in both verbal and written forms
  • Ability to observe, assess and coach the work of others
  • Ability to reason, make decisions, and use independent judgement in various situations

Physical Requirements:

  • In order to inspect, validate, train and manage within the work processes, must be able to frequently lift and carry products weighing less than 5 lbs. Will occasionally need to lift and carry products weighing up to 50 lbs. Occasional pushing and pulling of racks/carts weighing 50 to 250 pounds using.
  • Frequent reaching to various levels and directions to move/stack boxes of product, move product on and off hangers, rails and carts and stock product on display racks/shelves.
  • Possess dexterity for complex hand-eye tasks, including keyboarding and merchandise ticketing/movement activities.
  • Continuous standing, frequent walking, stooping, bending and twisting and occasional kneeling needed to stack and/or stock product(s) on display racks.
  • Frequently required to read written documents and product labels.
  • Continuous need to hear and verbally communicate in order to interact with and respond to management, team members and customers. Will need to hear requests in person and via intercom and telephone.
  • Will occasionally be exposed to hazardous machinery (compactor, baler, Big Joe), solvents (cleaners, detergents), radiation (Microwave in break room), continuously exposed to dust and frequently exposed to temperature fluctuations.
  • Must be willing to travel within the US and CAN. Will require weeklong/multi-day travel, use of personal vehicle is required.

Tools and Equipment Used:


  • Laptop, printer and fax, various software, ticketing machine, forklift, pallet jacks, rolling merchandise carts and bins, physical security equipment including CCTV, phone, personal vehicle, company credit card. Must have valid Driver’s License.
